SlapNTickle asked:
I have started a local magazine and am finding it difficult to get advertisers involved. I cannot decide if my time is best spent calling people or if I should be out visiting them. If anyone has or does run a local magazine and has experience of selling the advertising I’d appreciate any suggestions to make me work more efficiently. Thanks.

I used to do this a few years ago as my job. I used to find cold calling really difficult and after several rejections would get really disheartened. You have to stick with it and get your name and face known. It also helps if the publication you work for has a well known reputation. Face to face is better than phone calls but I appreciate much harder to do.

I’m not in the business but my advise to you is to get out and meet the people ..the personal touch goes down a bomb with intending customers and that goes for all promotions of any kind of business and when it gets off the ground you can step back a little, Go for it
