Gain industry experience first. There is NO way you will make it without understanding your industry. Sorry, it’s simply not possible straight out of college.
Then you get some investors. Know anyone that might be interested in giving you some start up money?
And for goodness sake, I hope you paid attention in your business classes.

First off, assess what you are good at. Is there a particular area that you have specialised knowledge?
Do you have any start-up capital, a line of credit, or someone who is willing to co-sign for a loan?
Businesses run on Money.
If you have a unique idea or product to offer the marketplace, then it may be slightly easier to secure start-up capital.
Many years ago, I visited a franchise expo. most franchises are very expensive to enter into, but I do recall one that involved silk screening of t-shirts.
You’ll never get rich doing it, but with a bit of hard work and clever marketing, I am sure that you ca make a reasonable income.
Consider things like reunions, family gatherings and similar events. Make sure that you use a t-shirt of reasonable quality, and build that cost into your pricing structure.

Do something thats good for the environmnt. I sell foot free candles. If you were to do that, you could sell to other students, maybe burn one in your dorm room, who knws what you can do. Reply to me and I can give you the link.

Most people “Do, Learn, Define”…I recommend you Define what you want in life, Learn from someone who has success in that area and then go DO it. Just look at the answers for your question–Do what I do…contact me and Learn what I know…and it will Define your income….you can earn same as me.
If you are interested in starting a local advertising company, find one that is successful, (maybe even work there awhile while you learn what they do good and where you can improve to be better than them when you start your own company).
Personally I do not know very much about the advertising agency, but I do know many business owners who would like to find a unique way to cost effectively promote their products. Phone book advertising is expensive, and the internet is loaded with millions of websites. Finding a solution to advertise effectively is a major stumbling block for many businesses.
