Dallashambone asked:

I am frustrated in attempting to learn about Internet advertising. I have an idea for a local website, that I expect would have relatively high traffic locally, and not rely on Search Engines to bring visitors.

I do not have a product to sell, but an interesting service to provide on the website. I can’t figure out how to profit from the potential traffic generated. The affiliated programs seem to only have very modest revenue returns.

I may have potential to “sell’ local advertising on this site, but have no idea what I could expect that to be worth? I know esoterically, it’s worth what they’ll pay, but I’d love some real life examples.

I’d be appreciative of realistic knowledgeable responses from those with experience in this type of website. I’m not looking to become an instant millionaire, but on the other hand this site will require a lot of time to maintain, and I need it to be worthwhile of my time.

Thanks for any serious answers.
